First things first, there are some items to make sure youth are getting a good start to their 4-H year.

  • Enrollment -  to engage in 4-H activities/meetings/events 4-H members need to be be active status/green in the system. If your unsure of your enrollment status or have questions please contact your county Extension office.
  • Projects - As a checks and balance be sure that you are enrolled in the respective project(s) that you are completing record books for.
  • Club - Make sure you are enrolled with the correct club(s) that you will be engaging with

To create a record book, make sure you are logged into the right member profile

Click on the orange 'Record Books' button on the menu to the left

The following screen will appear

Click on the green '+RECORD BOOK' button to create a new record book. 



Enter the following Information:

  • Project Name (i.e. Cake Decorating or if an animal Cole/Horse)
  • Select Club from the dropdown menu
  • Primary Category - Select if your record book is Non-Animal (FCS/Cooking/Clothing/Art) or Animal
  • Sub Category - Yearly Activity Record
  • Record Book - Select record book type
  • Project Year - Select current 4-H year 
  • Project End Year - Select same 4-H year range that was selected for Project Year
  • Start Date - Depending on your state this date is the start of the 4-H year. For most states this date is Oct. 1 (for the 2021-2022 4-H year this date would be 10/1/2021)
  • End date - Last date of the 4-H year not your Fair date unless specified by your county. For most states this date is Sept. 30 (for the 2021-2022 4-H year this date would be 9/30/2022)
